giant kelp forests?!?! is anyone else amazed just thinking of underwater forests?
we were in santa barbara last week. i was told in a thrift store that mj had passed away. all the bars and restaurants on state street were playing his greatest hits through the night in honor of their neverland neighbor.
we've had a great little gig the past weeks dog/house sitting for clients of mine. it really has felt like a little vacation just 5 minutes from our home.
they have a gorgeous house hiking distance from griffith park and we have fallen in love with their sweet pup, cleo. isn't she a cutie?! it has definitely reminded me how much work having a dog is, but they are so much fun! her family comes home tonight so i'm going to take her on one more hike after work...
the echo park time bank hosted their monthly meeting in our garden last weekend and we had a blast meeting them all.
they are doing amazing things connecting needs and resources within their alternative economy... no paper monies here people! everyone's hour is equal and through this pay it forward system, the hours that you work aquire you time dollars. you can then cash in your time dollars for services that others are offering such as: dog walking, business consulting, interior design, cooking lessons, gardening, or massage therapy! we're signed up and can't wait to begin to use the program.
we're stuck in the gloom of june in la. lots of gray and little sprinkles throughout the week. even with little sun, our raised beds at the shop are looking mighty fine! the beets are sprouting and my strawberry popcorn is taking off. my little lima bean tendrils have caught their trellis and are starting to curl their way up. i can't wait to eat those brown turkey figs from my new tree either!
new work! i am close to finished on the first garden phase for this gorgeous contemporary home in hermosa beach. lots of beautiful plants in a small space and i am just thrilled with how it feels. this garden is pretty green my friends. all of the plants are extremely drought tolerant. we installed led lighting throughout as well as a weather based drip irrigation system which will sensor the humidity in the air and only water when needed. i'm working on a few really fun additions on the roof and for the entry. i'll share them when i can.
